Midnight Memories

It's a well known fact to all of my friends that I'm a (very proud) One Direction fan and I have been for the past 2, nearly 3 years. Recently, the band released a new album called Midnight Memories. I'm sure it's needless to say I absolutely love every single song on the album, but I figured I should justify why this has been by far the best album the boys have released, in my opinion.

When One Direction released their debut album, Up All Night, they became famous worldwide as if overnight. Although I believe Up All Night to be a great album with songs like What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing (a personal favorite), none of the songs were written or even co-written by any of the boys. I expected this due to the band being fresh out of the UK's X Factor, but it wasn't until their second album, Take Me Home, that we began to get more of a feel for what the boys really wanted their music to sound like.

Take Me Home was a very upbeat album with a few emotional songs here and there. The boys began to take a hold of their music even more and slowly started growing as songwriters, experiencing different areas of music. I had the privilege to actually go to the Take Me Home tour in Houston, Texas where the boys performed about 95% of their songs from the Take Me Home album. The concert was pretty amazing, definitely one I will always remember and even tell my kids about. I had the best time of my life. The album made #1 on iTunes within the first day it was released and topped many charts. I highly believe it doesn't come close to being as good as Midnight Memories.

Midnight Memories has been the first album the boys have released where majority of the songs were written by the boys, take it they didn't write them alone, but the point is that they had full control of their music. If you were to take your time just listening to songs from each album in order (Up All Night, Take Me Home and then Midnight Memories), you will begin to realize how much their music begins to mature. I personally feel as if the boys have always tried to target an older audience (Ages 16+) but due to growing themselves, they've been able to hit a much wider range of fans. The boys are now kicking butt with an unbelievably strong fan base behind them and are growing in their music with a brand new phenomenal album. With songs like "Diana," "Story of my Life," "Strong," and "Half A Heart," I truly believe that everyone should check out Midnight Memories. This album has such a great feel to it, one that I will definitely be having on repeat for a very, very long time. One Direction, I truly commend you on such a great album!! Love you guys! :)
